| Bright spots on Sony 34" HD tube | T-RUK Jun 7, 2002 1:20 PM | | I have had a Sony KW-34HD1 for about a year, and a few months ago I began to notice a couple of faint but noticeable bright or "blooming" spots towards the top of the screen on both the left and right sides. This ONLY shows up in the FULL screen mode, not the wide zoom, zoom, or normal modes. Normally one would suspect some kind of burning of the screen, or possibly some interference from other equipment nearby, but everything I own is either shielded or far enough away from the set (several feet). If it truly were one of those things I would expect it to show up in ALL picture modes, not just the FULL mode, so I don't believe it's the tube. Also, the bright spots have no color, just small spots about the size of a fist. I had one technician look at it already, but he wasn't very familiar with this kind widescreen HD tube, therefore he did not know what it was or how to fix it. It's really only noticeable while watching darker film-noir type films as opposed to brighter films. I also don't believe it is due to the DVD player or any cables I use because, again, it ONLY happens in the FULL screen mode. If I switch to WIDEZOOM for example, it completely disappears. Has anyone out there ever experienced this type of thing? Very strange. Any input or advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
