NAD 3140 questionsScribe1964

Hello all. I recently got an NAD 3140 Integrated Amp, but it didn't come with a manual. I have two questions for anyone out there who might be familiar with this model. First, what is SLC? There's a button on the back for it. Second, there is also a button for bridging. Should the button be pressed in or out? It seems logical to me that it should be in for briding, since it isn't labeled "bridging off," but when it is pressed in, the amp sounds weird. Thank you, in advance.

BRIDGING BUTTON IS OUT!!! unless you have another power amp for the other channel because you will be running the amp in bridged mono mode...and suspect it will sound weird. SLC I don't remember as I have not had an NAD around for a bunch of years but there was a feature called Soft Clipping which I suspect was just that...don't use it unless you are in the habit of blasting your music and clipping your amp and in that case it might save you from buying some new speaker drivers.

Sorry, the last sentence of my original post was wrong. When the bridging button is in the out position, the amp sounds strange. When it is pressed in, it sounds great and it is definitely in stereo. So could pressing it in take it out of bridging mode???

That's definitely possible...call Stereo Exchange in NY City. They were a big NAD dealer and they have an in house repair dept with some very good techs. They will probably have all the answers.
