Companion PreAmps for My New (OLD) McIntosh AmpsDougman
Apr 9, 2001 3:03 PM
Well, I made the plunge for the companion Pre-amps to go with the two Macintosh Amps (an MC2120 and an MC2100) that I recently bought. With one of these (the one that I will have hooked up to a CD player, I'll be using a Kenwood Audio Purist C-2 pre-amp.

For the other, I just picked up on eBay, an APT Holman 1 pre-amp. I first heard one of these 20 years ago, and I had told myself that If I ever got a REALLY top tier system, I'd get one of these babies. Like the McIntosh Amps, this is known as solid state electronics that really sounds like tube gear, but with far more features and reliability. I can't wait until all of this stuff arrives.
