Pioneer SX-5590???PeteH

Looks like a black SX-1250, same huge toroidal power supply and the large pair of caps on either side. Same size. 160 wpc. Has 4 or 5 selections on the back for line voltage. Is this a European (or non-USA) model?
I'm curious, 'cause I took a chance and just bought it for $300!
Thanks,
Pete H.

Yes, that is the brute! I think the 1250's have been selling for at least that much, I had simply passed it over a couple of times, too!
I have a 1050, but had always wanted a 1250/5590 since they came onto the scene when I was in grad school.
I also have a Kenwood KR-9400 on the way! Yikes, another vintage stereoholic! ;-)

Thanks, Buzz! In the reviews section, I had noticed someone mentioning the different model numbers for overseas gear (in a review of the G-9000, actually). The guy noted that her preferred the sound of the Euro-model to that of the USA-model. That is what piqued my interest in the "odd" model number. The brief descpription and the photos plainly showed the big toroidal transformer surrounded by the four big caps.
BTW, it is paid for, and should be shipping my way today (I hope).
Gawd, am I excited!

Oh, yes, I am really tickled! I am still flabbergasted by the prices pulled in by the SX-1980, though. I have a couple or three of quite good power amps here that do not have power supplies or capacitors anywhere near the size of those in my SX-1050! And the 1250/5590 has 4 of those giant caps!
BTW, I also have a Kenwood KR-9400 on the way. Weren't the 9400 & the 9600 dual-mono designs? Anyone know?
With a Carver The Receiver, the SX-1050 (and the bad boy SX-5590 coming), a Yamaha CR-1040, and the KR-9400 coming, what do I need? A Sansui 9090DB or G-8700, and something in a big Sony ;-) (Oh, I forgot, I have a NAD 7100 and a dead JVC SR-501 down in KC in my brother's basement, it died in college service with my nephews, and I've just never remembered to haul it up out of their basement).
Should I mention the six power amplifiers (and two integrateds), four pre-amps, and four tuners?
Think, just another stereoholic on this board! My friends just think I'm nuts ....
