Got your email. A list of my stuff would be NEARLY impossible! My wife says it would take 3 days to write them all down & if I tried right now with the buzz I have...It would take 3 years!
I plan on making 2 CD's of a wide mix of music from Psychedlic to Who Know's What??? I'll be sending it out to any Frequent Flyer who might like a copy of it, (Or at least think they might)... suckers!!!
Anyway... Don't worry about returning the favor right now. Let me PUNISH you first & then you can do your best to PUNISH me back... If you're BRAVE enuff to tread those waters!!! mwahahah.... ;o)

If you want the real deal with Pink FLoyd, get Dark Side of the Moon, one of my favourite albums hands down, and play it LOUD.
Another very cool album is Piper at the Gates of Dawn, psychedelic and very fun to listen to.

Sounds interesting... What kind of music is it? I'm always on the watch for new music.

Sounds like an album well worth listening to.
I tried the local record stores here in Sansiago (Chile)...nothing. I might have to go to the more "specialized" stores here (smaller record stores dedicated to electronic music). I'll see what happens.
What kind of tunes do you listen to in general?
I'll see what can be done about that from my humble, but always growing collection. |
| a Perfect Circle........ | ckelly Apr 16, 2001 11:50 PM | | John,
I live in Santiago. I was born in Australia, and lived in Mexico, Singapore and the States. I have lived in Chile since I'm 15 (i'm 28 right now). My mother is Chilean, my father is Australian, and used to work for Digital Equipment Corporation, so that (very briefly) explains why I'm here and why my family moved around for quite a while.
I studied Business Administration, and graduated recently (december), and right now am looking for a job. It's been tough, as unemployment is high here right now (+/- 10%) and with the slowing of the US economy, projections aren't exiting.
As for the availability of vintage electronics, stuff shows up here but good items at a reasonable price are few and far apart. Right now I have a rather decent system (put together over a long time as a student):
Marantz 2226 Receiver
Sansui SC-1110 Tape Deck
Technics M24 Tape Deck
Sansui CD-M410 CD Changer
Paradigm Monitor 3 speakers (really cheap here: $250 the pair brand new)
I also have a Sansui AU-555 I inherited from my dad, along with a pair of Fisher XP-6 speakers, as well as a Sony ST-5055 tuner.
When I get a job, I'll make it slowly grow into a monster that will drive my neigbours up the wall =).
I know the Tchaikovsky 1812 with the cannons, VERY cool way of proving to my friends why I'm into this equipment. There's another CD much along those lines: Grofé "Grand Canyon Suite" (with thunderstorm effects) Telarc CD-80086. This CD is great for auditioning equipment and putting it on full blast - it is great to see the expression of fear on the salesmen when playing this one.
I have a bit of everything too in my collection. e-mail me and we can exchange CD's.

| Sounds good..... | ckelly Apr 17, 2001 5:21 PM | | John
I I personally don't like the Sansui Cd player all that much, it's flimsy/plasticky (burt that is the norm with today's equipment), and the drawer is noisy.
Another issue with the CD is much dumber: the display os orange, which together with my maramtz doesn't look good. As soon as I have money I'd lioke to upgrade to a NAD C540 CD player, which I've heard and sounds very nice and has a rather simple style that doesn't look bad with vintage equipment.
The other toy I'd love to get my hands on is a Turntable.
I'm single, so I haven't been introduced to the world of WAF.
As for the World 500 GP, I have no idea.

| I agree | ckelly Apr 18, 2001 12:34 PM | | It is cool watching the lights on the system. And the ones that look wrong is the sansui display. As soon as my cash is better, I'll get my hands on a NAD C540 player as well as one of those special players for the big black CD's that can't be burned on the computer =).
