| Sansui G-9700?? | PeteH Apr 17, 2001 6:30 PM | | I have a lead on a "working" Sansui G-9700. Am not very familiar with Sansui, but believe this one is very big, about 200wrms/channel, late 70s? Would be about $250-275. S&H extra, of course. Should I make an offer? BTW, not on eBay. It is not like I *need* another big ol' receiver, but y'all know how this works ... ;-)

(It is "working" in a stereo system, otherwise condition unknown.) |
| G-9700 excellent, except for | PeteH Apr 18, 2001 10:36 AM | | a small hole that has been drilled into the top of the case.
I have big Pioneer's, a big Kenwood, a Carver The Receiver, and a medium-big Yamaha, these are all receivers. I know I want a Sansui, so I think I'll make the offer.
Sansui fans, what can you tell me about the G-9700? All I really know, is that it is "huge".

I say go for it! Looks like it would fit right in with that big black Pioneer monster you bought.
(Did you ever get that yet)???

| G-9700 excellent, except for | PeteH Apr 18, 2001 9:03 PM | | I went for it! Going to priority mail a postal money order tomorrow morning! I checked UPS tracking, and the evil black beauty *could* be here Friday morning, maybe even tomorrow! No kidding, but 15 minutes ago I emailed my brother to see if they would be willing to "babysit" my Yamaha CR-1040 (listening to it through the smaller Linaeum's, augmented by a real big powered sub, the Doors on FM. Superb.)
Had just thought to check the reviews area. 4 reviews of the 9700, all highly favorable. Figured, having seen a few comments here by the Sansui aficiondos. "Huge" kindda sums it up :-) 200 wrms/channel, .01 (.001?) THD, and picks up FM like a Nebraska tornado picks up roofs, cars and whatever else gets in the way.
Yeah, I can hardly wait for the "battle of the bands". Too bad the Kenwood is a "little guy" at 120-125 wrms/channel (the KR-9400), but we'll throw it into the mix, and what the hey, maybe haul up the Carver The Receiver. Swap 'em all running the big JBL's. Yow-zah!
(I overlooked the SX-1050! Another "little guy" at *only* 120x2) |
