| SX-5590 (1250) arrived!!! | PeteH Apr 20, 2001 9:19 AM | | and pity the poor UPS guy, he delivered the SX-5590 (yes, identical to the SX-1250, except black instead of finished wood) AND the Kenwood KR-9400! The Pioneer was about 70 lbs, and the Kenwood 55 lbs. Both work very well. The SX has some cabinet dings, and the Kenwood a little scratchiness in the volume control. I noticed on the SX the tuning indicator isn't moving much at all. I think I want to swap the 5-meter speaker connects over to the big JBL's, until I feel up to moving the SX-1050 from its' perch, and moving the evil black beauty to the cabinet (on the top). These are some dad-gum BIG honkers! :-)
Just got an FM station playing, and the tune right now is "Addicted to love" -- hmmmm ... I'm looking at 4 big receivers, 3 bigger power amps, two tuners, a pre-amp, cd player, tape deck, and a turntable.
Addiction? Audioholic? Oh, the Dolby Pro receiver and VCR over to the side are forgetable. The HT stuff is downstairs, along with two other stereos set up, and some more stuff on the shelf.
And, I've got that Sansui G-9700 heading this way. Oh my.

There's sure to a BLACKOUT approaching rapidly!
Kick em' up a notch for all of us here.
Cheers! |
| All I can say is... | PeteH Apr 20, 2001 3:25 PM | | Holey-moley!! "Monster" sound! I thought I was familiar with power, my main stereo has two bridged Soundcraftsmen PCR800's at 600wrms into 8 ohms, the big Pioneer sounds every bit as full! The SPL in my smallish room here is crushing before it gets to 12 o'clock. Well, it was with the PCR800's and the SX-1050, too, but this is a huge crush! ;-)
I'm in Nebraska, and we're expecting many gigawatts of free electricity this evening, and the air has that heavy moist ozone? smell you can get around big power stations/transformers.
I'm getting ready to drive down to KC, too. Joy. |

| Slow Shipper... | moondog Apr 21, 2001 6:51 AM | | Hey Chris - Well... The BOZO I bought the speakers from is just now getting ready to ship them! 3 weeks after he received payment. This guy is the slowest shipper I have ever dealt with! I did receive my new CD player last week. Seems to be OK for the money invested.
One of these days I WILL get my pictures up.
mOOn
ps... Today I plan on pulling the trigger on those CD's I've been promising, although it'll probably still be a couple weeks before they go out.(Take care). |

How can that be??? That shipper ought to be skinned, dipped in salt and fried over a slow fire, along with a bad reference in his feedback on ebay.
That is cool about the CD player, what a deal!!!
As for the CD's I'm patiently waiting (and thinking about what to punish your ears and speakers with). I just burned a CD I've been wanting for quite a while - Pink Floyd "Obscured by Clouds"
take care, and patience my friend =)

| Obscured by Clouds... | moondog Apr 21, 2001 11:23 PM | | Hi Chris - Glad to hear you like the early Floyd stuff. A lot of the things I'm working on for the CD's are gonna be along those lines. Music for the Head. (if you know what I mean) .Obscured by Clouds is a pretty cool one. I got that one a while back. Some nice floaty stuff on there. I plan on sending along a copy of the CD a friend of mine & I did last year too. It's called Kosmic Kaos. Pretty Trippy stuff also.
Anyway... It's 1:20 am here. Just returned from playing a gig & now it's time to wind it down.
C-ya...

BTW, the Sansui G-9700 should be here Friday, the 27th of April! Anybody have a spec sheet for the 9700? For that matter, an owner's manual for the SX-1250? Kenwood KR-9400?
The *sound* is phenomenal! |
