Does anyone have info about Gale 301 speakers? I've owned them a number of years but have no details about them.

I owned a pair of 401's for a while...these had chrome end panels and were meant as a bookshelf speaker. great sound for their day and I wish I still had them.
Gale has been out of business for quite a few years now but all I know is they were made in England and competed with companies like Rogers, KEF and Spendor...were at the higher end in pricing and were known for great bass response. I have never heard the 301's.

That's right the 401's were the famous ones. The 301's were not so well known and were more recent. They have a metal plate over the front with lots of holes machined in them. The grills are in fact integral to the sound produced.

Sorry no digital camera therefore no shots! They sound good despite having a quite thick metal grill across the fronts. They're not large or particularly unusual in any other respect. Mine are all black but I beleive you could also get them with a chromium grill.
