| Dalquist DQ-10s-Help | cosmos Sep 7, 2002 8:50 AM | | We are downsizing and going to a home theatre set up and I have just put a pair of DQ-10 in storage. Except for the tops and bottoms of the cloth grills they are in excellent shape. Are these really worth more then the shipping? They weigh a ton and we live in NW Washington State. Are there any audio flea markets in this area? Also have a pair of Rectilinear 5 with the foam ring on the woofers rotted out. Any value as a rebuild? They too way a ton as does the Pioneer 1010 receiver that was part of my wifes set up many moons ago. Was ready to junk this all untill I started browsing this page. Did not know such a thing as vontage existed. I have pictures of all. |
| re: Dalquist DQ-10s-Help | nopcbs Sep 7, 2002 5:46 PM | | DQ-10's are worth upwards of $300. $400 for a very nice set is probaby the going rate. Some guy was selling (he had bids) a mint pair for $800+ a few months ago.
That Pioneer receiver is also worth a chunk of change in good shape. Check e-bay. I'm guessing $150+. |

| Are you selling the Pioneer? | Soundman Sep 8, 2002 3:33 PM | | There are also places to get the Rectilinears fixed. After that or perhaps before, they can also be sold. |
| Are you selling the Pioneer? | cosmos Sep 8, 2002 4:31 PM | | Yes I am. I also have a Dual turntable to go with it or alone. Thanks for the suggestions on the rectilinears. I will probably try to sell as is. But where would I look to find a repair shop? Appreciate the information. The folks on this site seem really helpful (and a little argumentative at times). |
| They may not agree with what you say, but..... | Soundman Sep 9, 2002 5:11 AM | | They will defend to the death you right to say it (LOL). Check into speaker foam replacement companies on the web. They can either repair your speakers or send you the components to do so yourself.
BTW: How much for the Pioneer? |
| They may not agree with what you say, but..... | cosmos Sep 10, 2002 7:12 PM | | The guy above suggested it's worth $150. But it is in great shape, just had it cleaned, including the switches, so it is a-1, nothing broke or bent. I can send pics. What do you think? I do not want to pay shipping. |

BUT, remember the shipping companies are out to break anything they may. Wrap the receiver in large bubblewrap, at LEAST 4 inches, put into a box (unless you still have the original packing box and stuff), and then put that box into another box, with about 2 inches all around. Fill that space, pack it in, with crumpled newspaper or bubblewrap. That 1010 is SWEET, and probably no HT receiver will match it, and it is heavy. You don't want broken glass or bent switches or knob shafts.
Clean DQ-10's are hot. Too bad you don't use them, and the Rectilinear's (very nice) in your HT. Plus, how could you really drive the power-hungry DQ's with 'only' 100 wpc!
Shipping on the 1010 will probably run $35.
For some great tips on selling, check http://www.audiokarma.org and there are several threads.
Nice vintage gear, you're making a mistake selling.
C'est la vie.
