| Infinity Pos-1 | rix720 Oct 12, 2002 7:00 PM | | hi,
i just came across an old pair of Infinity speakers model Pos-1(no pun intended) circa 1970. they are quite heavy for their size(look like bookshelf speakers but weigh at least 40-50lbs each). they have a selector(?)/adjustment switch to control the tweeters. if anyone knows anything about these speakers--their power handling, orginal price, etc, or knows of a site that would have info on them, i would really appreciate your input. maybe a link to the bluebook page(if there is one online)...anyway, thanks a lot and have a great weekend everyone!

I am an Infinity enthusiast but I am more familiar with the models that came out in the later 70's. The site to go to for vintage Infinity is www.bobbyshred.com/infinity.html
If you scroll down the page you can get to the View Guestbook section and then access the Message Board- I suggest asking over there and see if anyone knows more about your particular model. Also on that site is Link to another Infinity site- in Germany but written in English.

its amusing that you said 'no pun intended' in reference to the pos1. in actuality, THATS how the speaker got its name. cary christie had the prototype in his office and one of the staff came in and asked 'whats that piece of $hyt?'. at that point, the pos was a cube but evolved into the rectangular box we all know and love.
it was cheeeeeep and sounded way better than its cost would have indicated. these are all verifiable facts. actual price i cant remember.

thats pretty funny. i give the people at Infinity credit for going through with the name. that took some guts a good sense of humour...
anyway, thanks for the post.
have a great weekend.
