power handling for Marantz 2235demos
Oct 15, 2002 8:54 AM
I have an old Marantz 2235 receiver and have an offer to pick up a used pair of klipsch kg 5.2. These speakers are rated for 100 watts. I know that this old Marantz receiver is rated at 35 watts, but that is 35 watts of vintage power, which from my reading, is actually pretty powerful. (Sorry I haven't had the time to fully understand the rating differences between today's receivers and those of the 70s).
Does my receiver have the juice to power the klipsch kg 5.2 speakers, or would I be taking a risk here?
You should be fine. The three standard caveat applies.markw

1) Use common sense.

2) If it sounds bad, turn it down.

3) Don't max out volume and THEN turn it on.
