| Luxman LV-105 - How Do I Change the Tubes? | ejmcguire Jan 8, 2003 8:07 AM | | I have a 17 year old Luxman LV-105 which needs its tubes changed (or so I think, since I'm getting "warm-up" background noise for the first 5 minutes when the unit is turned on; the preheater is always on).
I cannot find anyone that knows how to do this. I've tried but cannot figure out how to access the tubes. I imagined that the way to change the tubes would be to remove the faceplate which would expose the tube compartment behind the little view window on the faceplate. I've removed the chassis cover, which revealed three screws that attach the faceplate to front of the chassis. Upon removing these screws, the faceplate still does not come free. The faceplate appears to be in two pieces, a larger top piece and a much more narrow bottom piece. The bottom piece appears to be fastened to the chassis by screws that are hidden by the larger top face plate (so the larger plate has to be removed first - or so it seems). There are also two tabs about a third of the way in from the left and right side of the front inside the chassis that appear to come from the top face plate. These seem to clip the top faceplate onto the chassis frame. However, when I slide hese downward with a screwdriver, the faceplate does not come free. Something is still holding the faceplate on.
I've also tried unscrewing the compartment that holds he tubes from inside the chassis but I cannot get the compartment to slide out either.
Obviously, I'm missing something here.
Does anyone know how to access the tubes, or, does anyone know someone who does? |
