| New to this forum + Sansui P-50 turntable | damianm Mar 1, 2003 2:40 PM | | Hello everyone
Just've been pointed to this forum from the Vinyl Asylum at http://www.audioasylum.com/audio/vinyl/bbs.html
I got ahold of a Sansui P-50 turntable (from 1980 I've been told), for which I have no manual; while I don't need the operating instructions, I could really use the complete specs, specially those regarding the tonearm parameters (effective mass, length, etc.) so as to be able to align it as precisely as possible.
Also I'm curious about this particular model, how well regarded (or not) it was at the time, reviews you guys might still have lying around/remember, and on Sansui TTs in general, how well regarded (or not, again) they are/were.
I'd really appreciate any and all info/comments.
Nice to meet you all,
Damián |

Here is how to date any Sansui:
the first 2 numbers are the plant it was made in, the 3rd number is the year (8=1978 etc, then starts over for 80's etc...) and the 4th and 5th numbers are the month (3=March) and the last numbers are the number off the line it was....
Sansui made some real nice tables, Technics was well known for their tables, but do a search and see what you come up with. |
