Will someone explain to me the fm deemphasis switch settings on back of tuner. You can set it on 25us, 50us, or 75us. Thanks. Robert

Emphasis is much like the early Dolby, except in a transmitter/reciever format instead of tape. To reduce high frequency hiss in fm, the treble is increased at the transmitter (pre-emphasis)and reduced at the reciever (de-emphasis). By reducing the treble at the reciever, the hiss is also reduced while the treble is returned to it's original level. If you live in the US, set it at 75. The other settings are for overseas. There used to be such a thing as FM dolby, I think the old Sansui recievers with a D in the model number had Dolby, but I don't know what happened with that. Maybe someone found a way around the Dolby patents and royalities. Hope this helps.
