My first set-up in 1970 used a Nikko receiver and I still haven't found anything that separates instruments that well, including AR, Amber, and even my 3012A.
I never owned any, but I suspect Nikko gear is way...trollgirl

underrated. For that matter, receivers in general are underrated, don't you think? I remember the first matching separates I owned, a tuner plus integarted amp. The tuner was and is wonderful, but it was a looong time before I admitted to myself what a piece of crap that amp was. I would have been better served by a good receiver...

What's really underated are the $100 speakers I run across in stores and malls that sound like live music; being a quality minded person, I've resisted buying any, and never did get the names. Stupid.
